Partner winegrowers in the spotlight : Florence Mejan

As quiet and feline as her beloved cats, Florence adores all things natural. She tends her vines solely according to organic principles, like a mother who wants only the best for her child. When greeting visitors to the vineyard she often talks about the essential oils that she uses to tend the soil, and the music that accompanies her wines as they mature. A moment of poetry at the heart of the terroir of Tavel.

Our commitment to the winegrowers

Since 25 years, 25 harvests, 25 vintages… Solid ties have been built up with the Rhone Valley winegrowers.

So, today VIGNOBLES & COMPAGNIE can count on its partnerships with wine estates totaling 260 hectares of vines, throughout the southern Rhone Valley. These partnerships give rise to quality wines that reflect the terroir and the sharing of expertise and skills.

To secure this partnerships and our commitment towards winegrowers and their family, VIGNOBLES & COMPAGNIE established a partner charter some 15 years ago.

Indeed, the oenological team led by Nicolas offers our help from harvest to vinification. First in the vineyard to secure the best quality for our cuvees blend : recommandations for cultivation practices, choice the harvesting date (grapes tasting), selection of the best parcels.

Nicolas Rager also works on vinification : tasting in the cellar, assistance & advice, choice of yeasts and upstream processes, maceration time, regular tasting.

White grapes harvesting in the Southern Rhone Valley

Harvest has begun in the Gard department in the South part of the Rhone Valley. It occurs with 10 to 15 days earlier than previous “regular” years.

Our winegrower partners are working hard to harvest white grapes : Chardonnay, Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne, Vermentino and of course Grenache white. All will enter in the final blend of our Vignobles & Compagnie wines.

Weather was crazy this year between frost, coulure, hail, drought … vineyards have suffered a lot. As a consequences, yields will be very low, around 10% to 40% less than previous years depending the grapes types and areas. Nevertheless, health conditions of vineyard is good and should allow us to harvest less but have grapes with a great potentiel of quality.
